The film is a unique documentation of parents, children, adolescents with cochlear implants, who recount and in various ways share their important experiences. We will meet preschool and school staff. Who can go through the surgery, who may benefit from a cochlear implant, and what is the procedure of the medical inquiry, surgery, tuning-in and rehabilitation. Hospital staff describe the procedure from the first meeting with the physician to the exciting moment when the child is able to hear for the first time. The film is for parents as well as professionals. It is even used in the Swedish University in the education of medical students and speech pathologists. The information film is subtitled in Arabic, Bosnian/Croation/Serbian, English, French, Italian, Persian, Spanish and Swedish.  La Federación de Asociaciones de Implantados Cocleares de España (Federación AICE) y la Asociación de Implantados Cocleares de España en Aragón (AICEAR) felicitan al Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza por haber transcrito por primera vez, a través de la pantalla gigante, situada en la Plaza del Pilar, el Pregón de las Fiestas del Pilar 2009.
Desde hace varios años se realizaba la emisión en lengua de signos, pero este año 2009 y por primera vez, se amplió a sobretitulado, por la pantalla de la plaza. Esto permitió que las personas con problemas auditivos pudieran seguir la intervención del Concejal D. Jerónimo Blasco, del Alcalde, D. Juan Alberto Belloch y del Pregón realizado por el "Abuelo", José Antonio Labordeta. |

A study on development of deaf children fitted with a Cochlear Implant |

A multidisciplinary group at Malaga University, headed by Ignacio Moreno-Torres, is collecting information on the milestones that mark the development of deaf children fitted with a Cochlear Implant (CI) and studying to what extent the social and family environment affects this development. This research is funded with 101,000 euro by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Innovation. The researchers have observed in this first year of the study that, three months after receiving the implant all the children showed improvement in their perception and ability to detect sounds around them. Children quickly learn that the CI is a device that allows them to hear and if it is deactivated they protest or make gestures asking that it be switched back on. |

Filmen "Cochleaimplantat – att återskapa ett sinne" finns nu att beställa med text på arabiska, bosniska/kroatiska/serbiska, engelska, franska, italienska, persiska, spanska och svenska samt tolkning till svenskt teckenspråk. Det är glädjande att kunna erbjuda saklig information om CI till föräldrar med annat modersmål än svenska. En ökande andel döva föräldrar väljer CI för sina barn. Teckenspråks-tolkning av filmen är därför viktig. Filmen används av personal i förskola och skola samt i undervisningen av blivande läkare, logopeder, audionomer m.fl.
